Have you ever really just thought about the Bible? No, not the
content of the Bible, but simply the amazing fact that we have a
book that God uses to communicate to us. It is a book written in
the past, but it is just as relevant today and will be just as
relevant years and years from now.
We
must study God's Word carefully and systematically.
Study it carefully, think of it prayerfully,
Till in your heart its precepts dwell;
Slight not it’s history, ponder it’s mystery,
None can e’er prize it too fondly or well.
Sometimes,
in sermons and personal study, we spend time studying everything
but the Bible itself. Despite the vast array of resources we
have--commentaries, study books and notes, audio and video
lessons, as well as internet, we must always remember that we
will never outgrow our need for the Bible. We need to grow
familiar with our Bible. We need to study and teach the
Scriptures diligently and apply their teachings to life.
This song
was written in 1874 for the first issue of a
Sunday school paper called Words of Life.
Read the words of this lyric...
Chorus 1
Beautiful words wonderful words
Wonderful words of Life
Beautiful words wonderful words
Wonderful words of Life
Verse 1
Sing them over again to me
Wonderful words of life
Let me more of their beauty see
Wonderful words of life
Words of life and beauty
Teach me faith and duty
Verse 2
Christ the blessed one
Gives to all
Wonderful words of life
Sinner list to the loving call
Wonderful words of life
All so freely given
Wooing us to heaven
Verse 3
Sweetly echo the gospel call
Wonderful words of life
Offer pardon and peace to all
Wonderful words of life
Jesus only Savior
Sanctify forever
Verse 4
Our dear Savior will come some day
Wonderful words of life
Come to rapture His Bride away
Wonderful words of life
Glory glory glory
Shout the wondrous story
How
do you make God’s Word important in your life? Take some time to
think about the importance of Scripture and thank God for his
Word to us.
