singing imageSinging is a natural way to respond with joy. We observe children doing this naturally when they play. Our faith is a singing faith, but singing should not be limited to the church services. It should be a part of our daily lifestyle. Singing gives us opportunity to praise God. Singing also provides encouragement and comfort in times of need. There was a lady in a congregation I once served that shared with me the fear that was going through her mind when she was told her husband was taken to the hospital after having a heart attack at a bus stop. She described the panic she felt as she went to the huge hospital alone not knowing his prognosis and wandering the corridors trying to find her way to where he was. She then said how a lyric to a song of praise came to her mind and she began to quietly sing. She described how the words of the song and familiar melody calmed her and she knew deep inside that God was in control.

Come, Christians, join to sing
Alleluia! Amen!
Loud praise to Christ our King;
Alleluia! Amen!
Let all, with heart and voice,
Before His throne rejoice;
Praise is His gracious choice.
Alleluia! Amen!

Come, lift your hearts on high,
Alleluia! Amen!
Let praises fill the sky;
Alleluia! Amen!
He is our Guide and Friend;
To us He’ll condescend;
His love shall never end.
Alleluia! Amen!

Praise yet our Christ again,
Alleluia! Amen!
Life shall not end the strain;
Alleluia! Amen!
On heaven’s blissful shore,
His goodness we’ll adore,
Singing forevermore,
“Alleluia! Amen!”

"Let all, with heart and voice...rejoice!" "He is our Guide and Friend...His love shall never end." "His goodness we'll adore, Singing forevermore..."

This is a call to worship. No, not a call to the start of a worship service, but a call to the start of a worship lifestyle. We are called to worship 24/7. Let the song sing in your heart. Sometimes that song may be sung out loud. Other times, it is a simple lyric giving hope and building that trust that God is always there for you.

This is a personal call to you: Come Christian! Join to sing!
